Squeezing the office into a Palm

Article Abstract:

Palm presents a new challenge to Microsoft now that its Palm m500 and Palm m505 come equipped with Data Viz's Documents to Go 4.0 and so can transfer Word and Excel files to the Palm. Documents to Go uses DocSync technology, which preserves formatting of edited files, as long as they are Microsoft Office files. Documents to Go 4.0 is also capable of displaying PowerPoint presentations on the Palm. The 4.0 version is not without bugs, but it is the most helpful and well-designed version to date, and enables Palm to leap ahead of Microsoft's Pocket PC for editing Office documents away from the office.

A new face (and heart) for the Mac

Article Abstract:

Apple has been using the same computer code for its Macintosh operating systems since 1984, but is now switching to Unix for its new OS X. Steve Jobs and Apple created a software overlay to make the Unix system more user friendly with the result being an easly navigable and very stable interface. Apple has changed many of the features commonly associated with Macintosh which requires the formation of new habits when using OS X. It would be wisest to wait a couple of months before buying OS X so Apple can work out its bugs.
