Social Security: raising the stakes - how will you fare when Congress makes its move?

Article Abstract:

The July 1998 stock market downturn has deflated enthusiasm in the Social Security reform community for privatization - greater reliance on the stock market for bolstering overnment and individual Social Security coffers. The younger a worker, the more likely that future market downturns could seriously reduce one's retirement nest-egg. System modification proposals, including privatization, are analyzed.

Close to 75% of Americans with private health insurance now participate in some form of managed care. HMOs help cut costs and work well for some patients, but they can also be impersonal and offer inferior care. Tips on how to choose a managed care provider and get quality service are given.
