Complex, dynamic environmental policies

Article Abstract:

Optimal intertemporal policies to protect the environment were examined. Findings indicated that unstable paths, stable limit cycles and transient oscillations were compatible with a rational environmental policy. It was also shown that a competitive economy subject to the optimal government intervention will support these endogenous cycles. However, complex strategies were limited to weakly green social preferences.
