Directional distance functions and environmental regulation

Article Abstract:

Using directional technology distance functions, the effect of environmental policy on the performance of a firm is analyzed. The study comprises of a method of calculating the opportunity costs for an individual firm from being restricted in free disposal of waste. The study was conducted on Spanish producers of cement pavement.

Management of interacting species: regulation under nonlinearities and hysteresis

Article Abstract:

The optimal regulation of an open access fishery when biomass dynamics are combined with fishing effort dynamics is considered. The interaction of inelastic demand and backward bending nature of the ecological supply curve introduce nonlinearities that could lead to multiple bionomic equilibria and hystereses effects.

Renewable resource regulation and uncertain prices: the role of financial structure and bankruptcy

Article Abstract:

The association between regulatory policies and the fiscal structure of a fishery is examined. It is shown that companies that are on the verge of bankruptcy react differently to regulations than firms that are not steeped in debts.
