GERMANY: NEW HEATING TECHNOLOGY BY EURECA

Article Abstract:

The German Bensheim-based company Europaische Energie Contracting AG (Eureca) expects to install its new heating and air conditioning technology in about 250 buildings by the end of 2003. The first installation of the TransHeat technology is in the office building of Clariant GmbH in Sulzbach. The 17,000-sq.m building is heated and air-conditioned by means of so-called heat accumulators. TransHeat uses cooling water from Clariant's polyvinyl alcohol production in near-by Hochst. The heat is carried by a sodium acetate solution supplied by Clariant. Clariant managed to cut heating costs by almost one-third due to TransHeat.
