Mark Nickerson (1916-1998)

Article Abstract:

Pharmacologist Mark Nickerson was one of the most influential medical scientists in his era and his work was well known worldwide. Nickerson himself was an unusual personality. His academic career began very successfully and would likely have led to even loftier heights had not he been one of those persecuted during the McCarthy era for refusing to testify against friends and colleagues. He was to continue a distinguished career in Canada where he was to make many acknowledged major contributions to pharmacology before his death in 1998.
