Article Abstract:

The UN remains an important force in international peacekeeping operations even during the post-Cold War era. The US' efforts toward multilateralism, as evident in Congress' aim to withdraw from peacekeeping operations, do not threaten the existence of the UN and its objective to police the world.

US will return to multilateral fold

This article provides an interview with former secretary-general of the United Nations, Boutros Boutros-Ghali. Boutros-Ghali argues that the unilateral policies of the United States will eventually fail and it will return to its traditional convictions of multilateralism.

The dues of peace

Statistics show that the UN is experiencing a financial shortfall. Many member nations have not been properly giving their annual dues to the organization's treasury and this is jeopardizing the effective management of peace efforts.
