The State Bureau of Tourism issued an urgent circular dated April 21, 2003, communicating to all local bureaus of tourism the requirements for adjusting domestic tourism work dispositions between the last ten days of April and the end of May to effectively prevent severe acute respiratory syndrome from spreading through tourist activities. Advocating local tourism while downplaying transregional tourism and avoiding organization of large-scale community activities were to be implemented by the bureaus.

Urgent circular on intensifying supervision over medical wastewater and medical garbage

Article Abstract:

The State Administration for Environmental Protection issued an urgent circular on April 22, 2003, on intensifying supervision of medical wastewater and medical garbage in order to prevent secondary contamination and cutting off the channels of proliferation of severe acute respiratory syndrome. It called for increasing the monitoring frequency of the detoxification and disposal of the wastewater and garbage and required local environment protection agencies to create a contamination reporting system.
