Achieving a mental health bill of rights

Article Abstract:

The concerted efforts of the presidents of nine national mental health associations have brought forth the report entitled 'Principles for the Provision of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Services: A Bill of Rights.' By setting aside their personal differences, they concurred that psychiatric patients must have the assurance of confidential treatment of all information related to their illness. Patients should also have an active role in formulating their own treatment strategies. They must also have access to complete information on their health insurance coverage.
