Intellectual disability and mental illness in the NSW criminal justice system

Article Abstract:

Findings from two evaluation studies are presented on treatment and services for former prison inmates who have intellectual disabilities. A case management approach was found to provide inadequate support for this population upon release; a service approach revealed behavioral and emotional problems aside from offending behavior that require supervision and support.

The relationship between mandated community treatment and perceived barriers to care in persons with severe mental illness

The role of social support in the effectiveness of mandated mental health care treatment is examined, specifically in reducing perceived barriers to mental health care by individuals who delay treatment for this reason.
