Adolescent focal theories: age-trends in developmental transitions

Article Abstract:

The psychosocial and leisure transitions during middle and later adolescence, from a focal theory perspective, involve few gender differences in age-related relational transitions but significant ones in leisure involvement. However, males view the home environment as more supportive than females in early adolescence. In leisure preference, there is an age-related shift from the neighborhood to the commercial pub. These transitions are similar for all social groups, irrespective of the person's social class or family background.

Codependence, narcissism, and childhood trauma

Article Abstract:

The study of codependence among Australian adults shows that codependence is not anticipated by childhood trauma. The establishment of a relationship between codependence and narcissism is more complex than expected by psychological research literature. The results remarkably undermines the theoretical concepts of codependency, and care has to be taken when applying the psychotherapeutic concept.
