Finding benefit in breast cancer during the year after diagnosis predicts better adjustment 5 to 8 years after diagnosis

Article Abstract:

A study that will examine longer-term reverberations of the positive as well as adverse consequences of cancer patients' experiences from diagnosis and treatment is presented. The results of the initial finding show more positive emotion and depression symptomatology at follow-up while higher initial benefit shows lower distress and depression at follow-up even after controlling for initial levels of these variables.
