Goal imager: bridging the gap between implicit motives and explicit goals

Article Abstract:

Goal imagery or the perception-like mental representation of pursuing and attaining goals was examined in two studies to determine its role in the establishment of congruence between individuals' inclination to pursue goals assigned to them as well as their implicit motives. The first study used a goal-imagery exercise while the second study used the dynamic computer game Tetris and an abstract non-violent design. Results of both studies suggested that goal imagery links individuals' implicit motive dispositions to their motivation in pursuing an explicit goal.

Communicative gestures facilitate problem solving for both communicators and recipients

Article Abstract:

The roles of gestures and speech in explanations are investigated for both communicators and recipients. The results showed that gestures that demonstrated actions were especially crucial, suggesting that superiority of gestures may partly reside in compatibility between gesture and action.
