Mothers' and fathers' interactions with preschoolers in the home in northern Thailand: relationships to teachers' assessments of children's social skills

Article Abstract:

Mothers and fathers in northern Thailand did not treat their children significantly differently in displaying affection to, joking with, or playing with their preschool children. Although parents generally treated girls and boys similarly, mothers were more likely to engage in conversation, educational activities, and basic care than fathers.

Modeling parenting stress trajectories among low-income young mothers across the child's second and third years: factors accounting for stability and change

Article Abstract:

The relationship between parenting stress trajectories and maternal, child and circumstantial influences on low-income young mothers during the first 3 years of a child' s life is investigated. The results found that a child' s difficult temperament had a long-term influence on parenting stress, than the motherEs age or her financial status.

Parenting beliefs and behaviors in northern and southern groups of Italian mothers of young infants

Article Abstract:

Northern and southern Italian mothers of young infants reported they spent more time in social than didactic interactions with their infants, although the reverse was true. Northern mothers spent more time on social interactions than southern mothers.
