Personality and self-reported delinquency: a longitudinal analysis

Article Abstract:

High scores on psychoticism, extroversion and low self-esteem are correlated with antisocial and aggressive behaviors. A longitudinal analysis of the self-reported delinquency reveals that psychoticism predicts antisocial behavior more accurately than extroversion or low self-esteem. At follow-up, these variables explain only a modest percentage of the variance of delinquency, showing that their influence on delinquency gradually fades away with time.
