Psychological and social predictors of changes in fruit and vegetable consumption over 12 months following behavioral and nutrition education counseling

Article Abstract:

A study assessing psychological and social factors predicting 12-month changes in fruit and vegetable consumption achieved by 271 men and women from a low-income population randomized to brief behavioral and nutrition education counseling is presented. The results show that short-term changes in psychological variables predict increases in fruit and vegetable consumption, and a refining method of intervention beneficial for dietary changes in low-income populations is required.

Respiratory sinus arrhythmia during stress predicts resting respiratory sinus arrhythmia 3 years later in a pediatric sample

Article Abstract:

A total of 149 children and adolescents participated in two laboratory protocols approximately three years apart for determining whether respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) responded to stress predicted resting RSA approximately 3 years later in children and adolescents. The results indicate that across a variety of tasks, the RSA reactivity is relatively consistent in a child sample.
