All a matter of balance

Article Abstract:

Industry experts confirm it is difficult to find investors prepared to fund mixed-use developments in the UK. One scheme is the 17 acre Brindleyplace development in Birmingham, England, which combines leisure, facilities with offices and residental space. Managing a mixed-use site can be problematic when the different types of users have conflicting needs. There are very few mixed-use schemes in British city centres partly due to limited space and the lack of funding for such schemes. Mixed-use schemes include office, leisure, retail and residential uses.

Rent rises become academic

Article Abstract:

The property market in Oxfordshire, UK, is seeing increased demand and surplus stock in Oxford is now being taken up. Robert Bray of Hillier Parker says that there is now a worryingly low level of new office space, and no new development is currently taking place within the city centre. The industrial property market is also tight, and this has inspired one of the first speculative industrial schemes in the area: the Easter Management Group's Taurus warehouse scheme.
