All dressed up with no one to grow? How fast-growth firms are surviving labor pains

Article Abstract:

Many of high-growth companies or 'gazelles' are turning towards unorthodox means to address their skilled labor hiring requirements. Using the conventional training programs cannot address the immediate labor requirements of these firms because of the lag time between training and productive employment. Training is also an ineffective way of addressing labor shortage since the cost of failed training is high and investments for training becomes a function of earnings. Gazelles turn to state sponsored job training programs or offer telecommuting to workers to address their labor shortage needs.
