Article Abstract:

Stanhope's new development, Chiswick Park, London, England, comprises of three new buildings at a cost of 45 million pounds sterling. Head of the Urban Task Force Lord Rogers of Riverside has been involved in the project which he sees as fulfilling the needs of urban regeneration. Stuart Lipton has been emphasizing the services provided with the buildings and the workplace technology rather than the size and facilities of the buildings in his marketing campaign. Occupiers will be expected to pay a flat service charge and pay extra for the additional services.

The leading property developer in the Blackwater Valley region of Hampshire, England, is MEPC. This company purchased the Waterfront Business Park from PSIT, and is now letting the new 1,765 sq mt Invicta building. It has also been purchasing buildings on Ancells Business Park. TA Fisher Holdings is pursuing development of the Fleet Business Park, where only 367 sq mt remains in phase four and 929 sq mt could be developed in phase five. In Liphook, England, Danbuild is to make a planning application for 1,858 sq mt of offices shortly.

Article Abstract:

Designers of office buildings in business parks, in the UK, are having to take environmental issues into consideration. Some observers predict energy efficiency will become a more important factor. The overall ambiance of a site will also be an integral part of a design where other facilities, such as gyms, will be incorporated. Some developers point out offices should be designed to appeal to the majority of occupiers. A vital consideration in the design of new office buildings is ensuring the building can cope with the advances in information technolgy.
