Article Abstract:

Information technology is considered an indispensable tool for corporations to remain in today's highly competitive market. Big investments are made to equip their information technology systems with modern technology mainly for efficient and expanded operations, and manpower pull. However, the application of these trends in technology require material and financial evaluation of the company's present technology, and making modifications to maximize technology advances. Similarly, the company's cultural and managerial issues must also be considered.

Illinois: ahead of the industrial curve

Article Abstract:

Illinois' economic resurgence is supported by the state's business activity. In 1996, Illinois attracted 573 new and expanding businesses, generating more than $1 million in capital investments. The figure elevated the state to the top ten list of US states in terms of additional business. In 1995 and 1996, Chicago also led US urban areas in attracting new and expanding businesses. Chicago has 348 new facilities in 1996, 86 of which are production facilities.
