New governors tackle economic development agenda

Article Abstract:

Nineteen states have elected new governors, most of whom promised jobs and economic prosperity for their constituents. The emphasis on development is likely to lead to the establishment of cabinet-level economic development offices in the states. Restructuring of economic development offices is also likely as the new governors appoint development officials who can be trusted to carry out their economic policies.
