Article Abstract:

The successful development of Jubail and Yanbu, Saudi Arabia's industrial oases, is traced to the effective implementation of the projects by the Royal Commission. The Royal Commission built the modern and environmentally friendly cities together with Petroline, which is responsible for the 745-mile trans-kingdom pipeline to carry crude oil and natural gas between the cities, and the Saudi Basic Industries Corp, which developed industry for the cities. Some $40 billion has been invested so far while another $30 billion are set aside for improvements in these twin cities, which is home to over 60,000 people who enjoy a high quality of life.

States, provinces luring high tech with broad array of incentives

Article Abstract:

Several states and Canadian provinces offer both financial and physical incentives to attract high technology manufacturing and research facilities. North Dakota, Wisconsin, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, New Hampshire and Iowa established incentives such as business incubators, science parks and sound financial policies to encourage the location of technology-based industries in the states. In Canada, Manitoba and Quebec are leading the efforts to attract technologial industries by allocating research funds and developing incentive programs.
