New opportunities in old sites

Article Abstract:

Start up companies who want to maximize their investments may try adopting brownfields as alternative industrial locations. Although brownfields pose clean up problems to buyers, they can actually be rewarded with cheap labor and reduced operating expenses in such sites. Unfortunately, investors have become reluctant in exploiting these sites due to lack of financial and technical support from the government's Superfund program.

Ports are the primary centers of these kinds of development, being upgraded to provide links to rail and road transport networks. Airports are similarly being upgraded, with air cargo having shown its potential in the shipping sector.
