Northern exposure

Article Abstract:

The region of north Kent, England, with its decaying dockyards and industrial complexes, is being regenerated through careful strategic development, facilitated by the Kent Enterprise Office. Vital to the redevelopment of the former Chatham Dockyard is the 80 million pounds sterling Medway Tunnel, due to open in mid-1996 and forming part of the Medway Towns northern relief road. Some 750,000 sq ft of offices have been built on the site, which will finally be a mixture of residential and commercial units. An overview of the commercial and industrial property market in north Kent is presented.

Making tracks

Article Abstract:

The market for industrial real estate in Leeds, England, has seen a renaissance of the south eastern area, and stagnation in the south west. Hunslett is in the south eastern area and has been redeveloped with help from Leeds Development Corp (LDC) which will be wound up in Feb 1995. Industrial land prices have risen due to a shortage and competition from uses such as frontages for freeways. Wakefield, and nearby town, is attracting some development at the expense of Leeds.

Everything to look forward to

Article Abstract:

The property market in Darlington, UK, seems to be benefitting from its new direct link to the A1 (M) motorway. Developments in the town include the upgrading of the market-place and plans to proceed with the second stage of Prudential's Cornmill shopping centre. The office market has also been boosted by the creation of the Darlington unitary authority, which will replace the borough council from 1997.
