Change of flight plan

Article Abstract:

Some local agents point out the area around Gatwick Airport, Sussex, England, is gaining popularity with businesses due to the high cost of buildings and lack of space at Heathrow Airport, London, England. Rents for industrial space are reaching 7.50 pounds sterling per sq ft whilst offices cost 22-24 pounds sterling per sq ft at Gatwick. BAA plan to extend Gatwick to cope with the predicted rise in passengers to 40 million per year by 2008. As services from the airport increase businesses are more likely to want to move into the area particularly computer companies.

Plans to increase passenger numbers for Stansted Airport, Hertfordshire, England, to 15 million per year from 8 million per year will have a positive effect on demand for office space in Bishop's Storford, Hertfordshire. Local agents find demand for office space has not been satisfied by the limited amount of development in progress. They predict both land prices and rents will rise. Some 11,000 sq ft of space is being built at South Street and other space is available at the Dencora development.
