Article Abstract:

There is very strong demand for office property in Knightsbridge, London, England, and this has pushed up rents. There is now a severe shortage of affordable property in both the office and retail sectors. Prudential Portfolio Managers plans a 500 million pounds sterling mixed-use scheme on Knightsbridge Green, but has yet to obtain planning permission. The largest new development in South Kensington has been steps to revive the Gloucester Arcade with a letting to supermarket operator Waitrose.

There is a strong youth culture in Camden, London, England, and this is attracting both retailers and property developers. Parkway Properties is set to launch a large retail development, where there is a newly refurbished Rank cinema. London Building plans a mixed-used development at Suffolk Wharf. This will include 3,251 sq mt of offices and a 130-bed hotel. The same company also plans to locate a Wagamama Japanese noodle bar and 25 apartments in the CZWG-designed Glass Building.

Sold on the unusual

Article Abstract:

Retail properties in Chester, England, are very popular despite there being a lack of parking in the area and no well-known department store. The shape of the stores along Eastgate Street are unusual, but attractive. The Forum centre on Town Hall Square will be further developed to add extra shopping facilities, costing 30 million pounds sterling. Further office and parking space will be developed by Limewood Developments, next to Grosvenor Park.
