UK agents dance to US giants' tune

Article Abstract:

American corporates are increasingly interested in obtaining a facilities management service for their global property arrangements in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. They require a variety of services and wish to work with few people, making it difficult for competitors to gain access to their business. Companies such as Microsoft Corp. and Sun Microsystems have one or few agents working for them, in formal and informal agreements. Agents such as Colliers International and Richard Ellis are working for corporate clients on a global basis.

A window on a brave new world

Article Abstract:

The Internet is likely to affect a number of UK professions and has uses for research, communications and marketing. The real estate industry can benefit from the Internet as a marketing tool and house buyers can log details of their needs and select the property that matches their requirements. Real estate brokers are concerned that they could lose commission income. The attitude of large investors will affect the extent to which the Internet is used.
