When simple refurbishment is not enough

Article Abstract:

Older style of shopping centres should not only be renovated but must be actively managed to ensure that they retain customers. Some 700 shopping centres have been built in the UK, of these around 400 were constructed during the 1960s and 1970s. A shopping centre which has undergone a program of modernization should include leisure facilities, a variety of retail outlets, sufficent parking for customers and have adequate security arrangements. If the management of town shopping centres fail to provide a modernized operation they will be challenged by purpose built sites.
