The debate in France over equal opportunity for women in politics is discussed. The constitutional amendment for affirmative action represents a challenge to the principle of universality, a basic principle of the French Republic.

Fountain pens continue to be commonly used in France, in social correspondence, school assignments, and job applications. Graphologists are routinely employed to analyze job applicants' handwriting.
