A team less ordinary

Article Abstract:

It is a mistake to believe that the director is solely responsible for making a film, according to Andrew Macdonald, who produced the film 'A Life Less Ordinary.' This film was directed by Danny Boyle and written by John Hodge. The three have already worked together successfully on 'Trainspotting' and 'Shallow Grave,' and regard themselves as a single unit, even though there are inevitably tensions between them sometimes. The latest film is likely to be successful, but cannot have the same impact as 'Trainspotting.'

'Stanley Kubrick wasn't available, so they contacted me. I owe everything to Stanley Kubrick!' (Patrice Leconte, director of 'Ridicule')(Interview)

Article Abstract:

It was important to ensure that 'Ridicule,' which portrays the court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, was a sensitive and human film, not just a detailed historical re-creation of the period, according to Patrice Leconte, the director of the film. He had never previously been involved with a film set earlier than the 1950s, and did not feel the need to be completely historically correct. However, he does believe that the film demonstrates the inevitable course of events in a very moving way.

Cut the slap

Article Abstract:

Most people take violence in films for granted, according to film-maker Wim Wenders. He has been known for some time for his opposition to gratuitous violence in films, and has now taken this one step further with his new film 'The End of Violence.' This goes very much against the current trend in Hollywood towards films with high levels of violence. This is particularly the case with the films of Quentin Tarantino, whom Wenders admires despite the presence of violence.
