Charles could save the monarchy, but only if his mother abdicates

Article Abstract:

Charles, Prince of Wales, was educated to become monarch, and he has ideas about modernising the royal family. Some of his ideas may be mistaken, but he has anticipated ideas of the government by a number of years, and he is in tune with the uncertainty of modern times. He would be able to rule if the Queen retired, otherwise Charles will be over sixty by the time he becomes monarch. The monarchy could be abolished rather than modernised, but there is little popular support for such a move, and there is a need for a symbol of unity at a time of devolution.

Stop all this breast-beating and get dressed for success

Article Abstract:

It is still frequently asserted that women should resist the pressure to pay a great deal of attention to their appearance in order to make progress in their career. Women who do not seem to take account of their appearance are praised for being 'real women.' In fact, there is nothing wrong with women spending time on their appearance if they wish to do so. Dressing smartly and using make-up can boost a woman's confidence and mood, so is perfectly acceptable.
