Flicker of hope from brain damage victim astonishes doctors

Article Abstract:

Medical experts have expressed astonishment at the case of Andrew Devine, who was badly injured at the Hillsborough tragedy. He was diagnosed in 1989 as being in a persistent vegetative state (PVS), but began to emerge from this state in 1994. He has now recovered sufficiently to communicate at a basic level. This goes against traditional thinking about PVS, which has been regarded as irreversible after a year. Doctors are able to apply to a court to remove food and hydration from a patient after a year.

Why's he a dirty Harry?

Article Abstract:

The main reasons why men commit adultery are fear of commitment, poor sex in marriage, resentment of their partner's success and curiosity. Adultery is particularly common among men who get married at an early age, as they use adultery as a way of experiencing sexual adventure. Men often feel unable to achieve intimacy, and turn to adultery because they focus on personal gratification. Research indicates that religion and ethical beliefs have little bearing on adulterous behaviour.

Eat your heart out, Dorian Gray

Article Abstract:

A 10-year research project at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital will look at the ageing process and the links between ageing and ill-health. It has already found that people who look much younger than they actually are tend to have several factors in common. They usually take regular exercise, have happy marriages or partnerships, do not smoke and eat healthily.
