Vale Tournier-salve Privacy Act

Article Abstract:

The implied duty of confidentiality for the Australian banking industry has been inadequate and is being strengthened by the Privacy Act. This duty comes from the 1924 decision in Tournier v. National Provincial & Union Bank. The 1988 Privacy Act and its amendments on credit reporting are supplanting the 1924 rule. The 1988 Act is based upon the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Guidelines on the Protection of Privacy and Transborder Flows of Personal Data, which consider the needs of an electronic banking environment.

Article Abstract:

It is possible to arrive in New York, NY, for a weekend visit from the UK in time to sample a range of cafes, bars and restaurants on the Friday evening. Some clubs stay open all night, and the visitor can go directly from a club to have breakfast at Tiffany's Diner on the Saturday morning. It is worth spending most of Saturday shopping, as the city has many shops offering a range of goods which are less expensive than in the UK. Possible destinations for the Sunday include Central Park and Harlem.
