Get fixed up

Article Abstract:

UK banks and building societies have been desperate to attract mortgage customers over recent years, and have therefore offered a wide range of incentives. Some have very low rates, while others have offered incentives such as legal fees or furniture. However, few borrowers have taken advantage of the very low fixed rates which are currently available, some because they are aware of hidden costs, such as redemption penalties, and others because they lack the interest to change mortgage lender. Many lenders are now tightening up or withdrawing fixed rate schemes as the housing market begins to revive.

Beginners' borrowing

Article Abstract:

Many people choose a bank or building society simply on the basis of convenience, and do not realise that they may be incurring unnecessary costs. It is wise to take time to find the best deal, especially if an overdraft is likely to be required. A personal loan may offer a better deal than an overdraft, but it will depend on how long the money is required. It is vital to arrange an overdraft in advance, as failure to do so can be very expensive.

An electronic eye on the market

Article Abstract:

There are a number of different services in the UK which offer subscribers access to latest stock market information from their home PC. Some include stock movement alerts and individual analysis, and this can greatly ease the management of a share portfolio. Such services can be expensive, but are worthwhile for investors who have a portfolio worth 30,000 pounds sterling or more.
