How to retire in greater comfort

Article Abstract:

It is important to begin saving for retirement at an early age. For those working for an employer with a company pension scheme, then joining this scheme is usually the best way of saving for retirement. For others, it will be necessary to consider a personal pension plan. Full tax relief is available on premiums, and this means that the rules on contributions are strict. For most people, only earnings up to 84,000 pounds sterling can be taken into account, and your age will determine the percentage of this amount that can be invested.

City firms are slow to trade on the Internet

Article Abstract:

Very few fund managers in the UK have established facilities for those who wish to purchase equity-based Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs) over the Internet. There are also few Internet-based services for buying and selling funds. Many financial services firms have postponed the development of their use of the Internet, emphasizing the need to prepare for ISAs and to check their systems to prevent any impact from the year 2000 computer date change. However, some observers feel that safety of information is also a key concern.

Give me a call sometime

Article Abstract:

Pensions arranged by phone are taking a growing share of the UK pension market. Purchasing a pension by phone is a very simple procedure, with some providers even offering a 24-hour service. Several providers offer advice if required, but it is important to remember that they will be advising only on their own products. Pensions from direct providers are cheaper than traditional personal pensions, and most are more flexible.
