In the end, I was still her mother

Article Abstract:

The case of Debra Pritchard, whose estranged daughter Claire Hart was murdered at the age of 13, raises significant questions about the rights of natural parents. Pritchard had not been permitted to see her daughter, who was living with foster parents, for eight years. She believes that her right to information about her daughter, and her shared parental responsibility for her, were not recognized by the authorities. She claims that she was denied the right to attend six-monthly review meetings about her daughter's care.

Sandwiched between Mother Teresa and Genghis Khan

Article Abstract:

The list of the most significant events of the last 1,000 years produced by the New Millennium Experience Co tends understandably to focus on recent events. It includes some events which are likely to seem very insignificant in the future. An alternative list of the 10 most significant events in history could include Alberti's codification of linear perspective and the vanishing point, Gutenberg's invention of movable type, the fall of Constantinople and the discovery of anaesthetics.
