Kinnock steers EU off a road to nowhere

Article Abstract:

The 'citizens' network' scheme shortly be to be unveiled by European Union transport commissioner Neil Kinnock sets down plans for around 15,000 km of roads, completing a 58,000 km network. It also covers plans for 70,000 km of railway track, along with new inland waterways, transport corridors and 267 airports 'of common interest.' This is designed to address current European transportation difficulties, especially the lack of standardisation of railway lines and signalling systems and the fact that motorways often end at national borders.

Under fire, in need of aid

Article Abstract:

The International Committee of the Red Cross (IRCC) impartiality principle faces competition in humanitarian relief and First World intervention in humanitarian disasters. The 'droit d'ingerence' is seen as a version of imperialism, whereas the Geneva Convention would persuade stubborn states to abide by international law. War's changing nature, embracing ethnic factions, makes neutral aid non-influential.
