Those with a guaranteed annuity rate are to receive an average increase of 17.5% to the value of the policy, with those not having a guarantee receiving around 2.5%.

Equitable Life policyholders have generally been disappointed by the mutual life assurer's plans for the redistribution of its assets. Some 70,000 policyholders with guaranteed annuity rate pensions will receive an average 17.5% rise in the value of their policy, but must sign over rights to the guarantee.
