Article Abstract:

The Research Centre on Violence, Abuse and Gender Relations at Leeds Metropolitan University has linked with the West Yorkshire police to set up the first Kerb Crawlers Reeducation Programme. Participation in this initiative, a pilot scheme which will run for one year, will be offered to kerb crawlers stopped by the police as an alternative to going to court. Those who attend are involved in sessions on a number of issues, including men's attitudes towards women and violent crime.

Superintendent announces illness, considers a run for Congress

Article Abstract:

The Washington Superintendent of Public Instruction, Judith Billings, has announced that she will run for the Congress and that she is HIV positive. She has also revealed that she will not seek a third term as superintendent. Billings plans to form an exploratory committee to help her decide if she will declare her candidacy for the 9th district seat. The committee will include representatives from various organizations. Billings also plans to advocate HIV/AIDS education.
