Serbs rewrite history of Racak massacre

Article Abstract:

The Serbs are claiming that no massacre took place at the village of Racak in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, where more than 40 people were found dead. The Serb pathologist states that there is no indication that these people were executed, and a government minister has suggested that those who died were rebels whose uniforms were removed and replaced with civilian clothing. However, evidence at the scene does not seem to back up these claims. Some of the victims were men in their 60s, and therefore not likely to be active fighters with the Kosovo Liberation Army. International observers believe that many of the victims were shot at close range.

Death in land of 'safe' kidnaps

Article Abstract:

More than 100 Westerners have been kidnapped in Yemen since 1992, but they have generally been treated well and released after the government has met kidnappers' demands for facilities such as roads or schools. However, up to five hostages have now been killed following a failed attempt by the Yemeni authorities to rescue them. There were a number of Britons among the hostages, but the British ambassador had requested the Yemeni Interior Minister not to use force to rescue them.
