Sorry, Ma'am, but it is time for you to go

Article Abstract:

It is now time for Queen Elizabeth II to abdicate in favour of Prince Charles. Indeed, this is the only way to ensure the survival of the monarchy in the UK. Significant social changes are taking place, and more and more people are beginning to question whether Royalty can be justified. Abdication as the world enters the 21st century would bring the monarchy a great deal of publicity, ensuring its survival for at least another 200 years. The Queen must accept that she is not newsworthy, while her son is.

Where does the monarchy go from here?

Article Abstract:

Across-section of well-known people give their opinions on the monarchy and the Royal Family. Constitutional change and finance were considered important. Some suggested a president who would have to be a carefully chosen wise politician, others proposed a non-political head of state. Many think the Queen should pay tax. Few people remarked on the behaviour of younger members of the Royal Family which has been reported in the Press and given the Queen a bad year in 1992.

Long to reign over us?

Article Abstract:

Queen Elizabeth II, who is currently celebrating her 70th birthday, has made great efforts throughout her reign to be a unifying symbol for the UK, giving the country a sense of unity and purpose. However, over recent years this approach has not proved successful. There has been a shift towards republicanism as media coverage of the royal family has become more critical, and the future of the monarchy may also be under threat as cultural changes take place.
