State of the Ark shopping

Article Abstract:

Environ, the largest local environmental charity in the UK, opened The Ark, an eco-friendly store, in Leicester in Dec 1994. The project is being operated in cooperation with Leicester City Council, and is the first of its kind in Europe. It aims to increase ordinary people's awareness of environmental issues, and combines a restaurant, a shop and latest technology. Initial research indicates that public awareness is still very limited, even though Leicester was the first Environment City in the UK.

Who'd be a state school teacher?

Article Abstract:

Many state school teachers in the UK feel that the job has changed greatly over recent years. They have had to adapt to the very extensive changes introduced by the national curriculum, and now feel that they can never complete all the work which this requires. Even the most committed teachers have reached the point of despair, and morale is very low.
