Power integrated circuits (IC) based on metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology have higher efficiency, lower power losses and reduced acoustic noise. They have applications in a large number of devices from microwave ovens to high voltage dc transmitters. Improved power devices reduce the size and weight of the system and improve its reliability. Power technology provides an efficient means to control power and energy and give people a comfortable and environmentally safer.

Sticking their necks out in Southall

Article Abstract:

Women's rights group the Southall Black Sisters (SBS), London, England, won the Martin Ennals Civil Liberties Award in 1992. They have drawn attention to cruelty to women and domestic violence in Asian families. Staff work 12 hours a day, seven days a week and have about 30 cases at once. SBS handled 530 new cases and 674 requests for information in 1992. Although Southall is an area with many Asians, they have varied political and religious views.
