Stringberg and the Zuni curse

Article Abstract:

The Daughters of Eve, which researches the lives of and then puts on trial men which it regards as strongly anti-women, has already strongly criticised a number of authors and playwrights. It has not yet turned its attention to Swedish author August Strindberg, who was very critical of the women's rights movement. His works show a very inflamed view of the relations between men and women, and he certainly does not comply with modern views of what is 'politically correct.' However, his works are regularly revived, showing that he has a power which goes beyond his extreme views.

If it's courtroom drama you're after, don't go to court

Article Abstract:

Trials have great theatricality, and have frequently been the subject of dramas. Trials on stage and film can be pushed to two extremes. In one, there is a phantasmagoric end where everything seems to be taking place in the mind of the accused. This is seen in John Osborne's 'Inadmissible Evidence.' In the other, the audience is presented with a straight edited transcript of an actual trial. This is seen in Nicolas Kent's productions of 'The Nuremberg Trials' and 'Srebrenica,' which focus on the 1996 Hague War Crimes Tribunal.

Article Abstract:

Literary envy is a common problem, and is a frequent theme in fiction and drama. Writers can be extremely competitive, and become jealous when another writers appears to be enjoying greater recognition. In some cases, envy takes the form of perverse admiration, but in others it is much more like contempt.
