Teleworking for a flexible future

Article Abstract:

Companies using teleworkers, that is people working at home on computers connected to the office via telephone lines, find they can attract high quality staff that they would not get to work in the office. Other staff, especially those involved with sales and information technology, are tending to telework at least some of the time. The London borough of Enfield has a team of such workers involved in data processing poll tax records and payment details. The National Computing Centre has identified productivity, retention of specialist staff, reduced costs and transport benefits as the advantages of this method of work.
