The Dream Machine

Article Abstract:

It has proved extremely expensive to develop and launch the 128-bit Dreamcast video games console, according to Sega Enterprises Pres Shoichiro Irimajiri. However, he feels that Sega will be able to make a large profit if it succeeds in selling many Dreamcast consoles. He is strongly aware of the importance of the Web, and anticipates that, by the end of 2000, 30% of the company's target base of 8 million Dreamcast users will be using online services. He feels that the launch of Dreamcast will establish a totally new business model.
