The call of the wired

Article Abstract:

British Telecom (BT) has undergone a significant revival since 1997, when it seemed to be facing a great deal of competition from new operators. Its share price has risen substantially as a result of strong growth in data and Internet traffic reviving its residential business. It has also re-established its credibility through a joint venture with AT&T. BT has invested extensively in constructing new Internet-based networks, and is also linking with Microsoft to investigate the possibility of transmitting Internet-based services to mobile phone terminals.
