Will Kosovo be Europe's Vietnam?

Article Abstract:

It now seems very likely that Nato will launch air strikes against the Serbs in Kosovo, Yugoslavia. However, the outcome of air strikes is very hard to predict. The hilly, forested terrain in Kosovo will make it hard to achieve a swift victory, and the Serbs have significant military power. Some observers believe that Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic will quickly decide to seek a peace agreement after limited bombing, but others believe that Milosevic will feel that any form of surrender will bring about his political downfall.

Can anyone keep peace between the Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo?

Article Abstract:

Both the Serbs and the Kosovo Liberation Army can be regarded as responsible for the collapse of the ceasefire in Kosovo, Yugoslavia. The West now faces significant challenges as it considers how to resolve the conflict in Kosovo. It is clear that taking no action at all is not a viable option, but creating an independent Kosovo is also not possible at this stage. It is vital that a credible Western military presence is established in Kosovo, turning Kosovo into another Bosnia.
