Thorpe's friends - and a conspiracy to murder

Article Abstract:

A Channel 4 documentary to be broadcast soon presents new evidence about the activities of former UK Liberal party leader Jeremy Thorpe, who was found not guilty of conspiring to murder his lover, Norman Scott. The documentary uses new evidence from surviving witnesses, and claims that there was indeed a conspiracy. Furthermore, this involved close friends and colleagues of Thorpe. The documentary shows Thorpe as a charming and magnetic person who had a great gift for politics.

Making friends with the Net: who's the best matchmaker?

Article Abstract:

The largest supplier of direct high speed Internet connections in the UK is Pipex. These connections are too expensive for private users, but the company also offers a standard connection for Windows users. Demon Internet was the first UK Internet gateway, and remains the largest. CityScape Internet Services may be more attractive for home users, despite high set-up costs. The main on-line services are CompuServe, Delphi News Corp and eWorld, aimed at Apple Mac users.

The making of Scarlett O'Hara

Article Abstract:

Very little was known about the life of Margaret Mitchell, the author of 'Gone with the Wind,' until recently, even though it is now 60 years since the book was published. It was traditionally believed, for example, that she held racist views, but it has recently been discovered that she funded the education of at least 20 black Atlanta medical students. It is now becoming more widely accepted that she was a strong individualist with great passion and energy.
