Today, our unions are irrelevant. Tomorrow, they could all be extinct

Article Abstract:

Trade unionism has become irrelevant to many employees in the UK, especially women, young people and those from ethic minorities. Trade unions have failed to adapt to rapid changes in the labour market, and are thus seen as not being able to meet the needs of those who are not in permanent full-time or part-time employment. It is now time to consider how to substantially change the relationship between trade unions and individual workers. In particular, trade unions must provide 24-hour access to a wide range of services.

What they need is a lawyer

Article Abstract:

There are a number of agencies working with street children in Latin America. These children face very challenging circumstances, and many turn to drugs and prostitution. The charity Casa Alianza runs homes for street children, and is also willing to help these children take legal action against the police in cases such as rape or assault. Renacer, another charity, has been able to remove children from prostitution and exploitative employment.
